Message from Pastor Jack Lee (August 30th - September 6th)
Everyone needs a friend.
For me (Lisa too) we have Bob. For my friends in Richmond County, you too have a Bob. Robert Lemarrow Nelson has been a trusted friend of the Lee family since 1994 (give or take a year or two), and in that time Bob has seen the good, the bad, and the ugly of the Lee family. Through it all though, Bob has remained a steadfast friend. When I needed a friend to drive 2.5 hours (one way) and retrieve a tired and haggard minister…Bob was there. When I needed a friend to help set-up or take down decorations, materials, supplies, etc of a youth pastor’s multi-faceted job…Bob was there.
Bob was the chief architect and builder of 3 crosses that supported 3 teens for a drama one Easter (shout out to Lance for portraying a humble Jesus). The crosses were extra sturdy that could have supported adults, because they were SO heavy. Wow, good memories. When I needed to call someone and receive encouragement from the ebb and flow of ministry…Bob was there.
As you can see, everyone needs a Bob; a friend who is there no matter what. Recently, Bob called to announce that he was passing through the area, and wanted to join us for lunch. A quick call, and the Lee family (minus Mary who was enjoying Camp Nana and Papaw) joined Bob at Moe’s (“Welcome to Moe’s” should ring out in your mind). In no time we were quickly catching up on each other’s families, and the joy’s and perils of church life. It seemed like old times. No need to apologize for those missed moments of not staying in touch like we should have, just good friends laughing and reminiscing about life. Even now a smile stretches across my face…thanks Bob for being our friend. You are a treasure…now get back to work you slacker! As friends we also enjoy the pleasure of ragging on each other…take care my friend. Love ya…mean it!
Blessings,
Jack
